Casa Harbour

The harbour is used as a commercial port, and is the only way to access the island from the sea. In 1632, there were two attempts by pirates to land on the bay, but they were fiercely opposed by about 200 inhabitants. Legend has it that the people were protected from the bullets fired by the pirates by the statue of Our Nossa Senhora do Rosario located on Canada do Rocha, one of the streets heading towards the pier.
